Providing Expert Service for over 15 Years
Fish Engineering. Your One-Stop-Shop.
Fish Automotive Engineering was established by Isgak Fisher in the mid 2000’s. After having started out in the garage of our home, we have managed to grow the business so fast that there was an immediate need for a bigger space to work in. Today we are based in Athlone Industria, with a staff compliment of 10 people. Each one is professional and experienced in the field of motor engineering.
I’m proud of our family business, we provide a automotive engineering full service. We have created a “one-stop-shop” automotive engineering destination where we do all machine work, pressure testing, specialised welding (Brazing, Aluminium, Cast Iron, Stainless Steel, TIG as well as sub-arc journal rebuilding) , metal stitching (welding) and engine assembling.
Our aim has always been to serve all types of clientele, evryone from the DIY enthusiast, small mechanical workshops right through to large franchise motor dealerships and fleet maintenance companies.
No engineering job is too big or too small for us. We pride ourselves on this and our work is guaranteed.
Services that we Provide
During this process, we remachine the conrod back to a standard size. A better fit means better performance.
Crankshaft grinding is a process of removing material from the journals. In doing so we refurbish and re-use a very expensive component of an engine. Our recommendation is that it should be done during the process of rebuilding an engine. Refurbishment of this crucial part has the added benefit of better performance which comes along with the proceeding with this process.
Cylinder Head Overhauls
We meticulouly inspect all the components of the cylinder head. Each part is checked against the specification standards set by the manufacturer and if found to be not to spec then those parts will be refurbished or replaced as necessary.
During this process we completely strip & “chemi” cleaned the engine before all components are measured and refurbished or replaced, where it might be necessary. On completion of the inspection, then the components are reassembled and the complete engine is then be put on the test bench. If the client so requires, then we will do a “Hot Run Test”.
Reboring & Honing
When an engine gets rebored then it is normally caused when an engine cylinder is damaged. The reboring process can resolve such as issues as deep scratches, score marks and so forth. We believe that if your fingernail can grip a scratch, then it’s too deep and it will need to be rebored. If the cavities are oval or even irregular in any particular way then it can be a cause of overheating. Should flat spots appear in the cylinder wall, causing it to be out of spec in diameter then it is a sign of wear and tear. This process is perfect for solving those kinds of issues.
Linebore – Engine Block & Cylinder Head
All main bearing & camshaft caps are re-sized whereafter they are then realigned back to the standard specification before we put back in the engine.
Metal Stitching (Welding)
We pride ourselves in the master art of metal stitching (welding) as it is a specialised process and not everyone can do it perfectly. We use this process to repair cast iron parts where other methods would not be suitable.
When we do pressure testing, we pressurise the cylinder heads and engine blocks by using hot water and compressed air to inspect and see if there are any leaking cracks that might be visible. This is crucial for the longevity of the engine.
Surface Skimming is when all components of the cylinder head are individually inspected. We check all components against the standard specifications of the manufacturer and will refurbish, and even replace if needed, parts to their original spec.
